Sos Agaian is a Distinguished Professor of Computer Science at the Graduate Center/CSI, CUNY. Dr. Agaian was a Peter T. Flawn Professor of the University of Texas at San Antonio. His recent research focuses on computational vision, artificial intelligence, multimedia security, multimedia analytics, and cancer screening. His research sponsors include DARPA, NSF, U.S. Department of Transportation, U.S. Department of Energy, NIJ, and private industry. He is a highly cited scholar and ranked top one in the field of image quality and multimedia analytics, assessed in 2022 by Google Scholar. Over 45 Ph.D. students have completed their Ph.D. thesis under his supervision, and his work has led to over 750 articles, 10-books, 19 book chapters, and he holds over 56 American and foreign-issued or pending patents/disclosures. Several of Agaian's IP is commercially licensed. He is an Associate Editor for several journals, including the Image processing Transaction (IEEE) and IEEE Transaction of Cybernetics. He is a fellow of the Society for Imaging Science and Technology (IS&T), Optical Society of America (SPIE), American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), The Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA), and a Foreign Member of the Armenian National Academy. He is co-founder and served as honorary/general co-chair and/or committee member in many international conferences on image processing, computer vision, and AI. Dr. Agaian gave more than 15 plenary/keynote speeches and 50+ Invited talks. He was a recipient of the Innovator of the Year Award in 2014 and the Tech Flash Titans-Top ResearcherAward (San Antonio Business Journal). He is presently Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Image processing, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, and Journal of Electronic Imaging (IS&T and SPIE).: Systems. Dr. Agaian gave more than 20 plenary/keynote speeches and 50+ Invited talks. He is the recipient of Influential Member of the School of Engineering, Tufts University, and Certificate of appreciation from the IEEE Educational Society, Central New England Council. Also, he has received several paper awards. He is the co-founder of 3 Universities Centers: Simulation Visualization & Real-Time Prediction Center (NSF), NVIDIA Research Center, and the National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (DHS). Presently, UTSA's cybersecurity program has been ranked the best in the nation.
